Reframing the walls

that build our world.

Mission

When was the last time
you did something
for the first time ever?

Propelled by the complex sensation of expanding our comfort zones, First Time seeks to pioneer new empirical approaches to architecture and real estate development.

HERE'S OUR STARTING LINE

What We Practice

Precision

Our secret sauce is steeped in the details, seasoned through aesthetic, contextual, logistical, programmatic, and social information. We're active listeners and our consistent information streams help us excavate the process for intricacies that can deepen the work to create designs that are innovative yet practical.

Collaboration

Our team's diverse background and skill sets form a unique perspective towards every challenge we encounter. We nurture conversations across varied mediums -- from our personal library of inspiration to structured client-centered feedback-driven reflection.

Community

By focusing on creating original tailor-made spaces that are inclusive, accessible, and welcoming, we strive to contribute to the growth and vitality of the communities we serve. We aim to fortify the diversity of our collective experience.

Service

We value our responsibility to our clients, our communities, and the environment. Our commitment means we are accountable, communicative, organized, and supportive throughout our entire journey together.

Spirit

We approach every project with energy, enthusiasm, joy, and a sense of adventure. With a deep appreciation for art, beauty, and the natural world, we strive to infuse every project with a sense of wonder and awe.

About

Why We're Doing This

With the rising global concern over modern loneliness, it's clear that architecture will only be part of the solution.  As an exploratory studio, we join architectural and interior design with research and technological development. We strive to imbue every project with the feeling of inaugural nuance, in hopes of lowering the threshold to connection.

How We Think

EXPLORE OUR CORE

We use inventive methods in spatial and architectural analysis, open-source research, and digital modeling to explore new design possibilities. Our hands-on approach includes on-site interviews, documentary research, and academic collaboration.

on our mind.

01

Durable Peace

To construct enduring foundations for peace, we must unite divergent sectors with comprehensive knowledge of sustainable development, peace-building and human rights. Collaborative design is a vital catalyst in fostering transformative, lasting peace that benefits all segments of society. (We were deeply inspired by the Cooper Hewitt Museum's "Durable Peace" exhibit this summer.)

02

Symbiotic Futures

Every week we witness the loss of countless species to climate change. In our collective pursuit to thrive, it is our human responsibility to grow future communities that nurture and champion local biodiversity. Guided by material studies, geographic context, and nature's own creativity, we envision a future where the entire ecosystem collaborates in co-creating our homes, neighborhoods, and narratives.

03

Intuitive Fun

Amid the digital era's constant hum, our designs embrace a playful psychological approach. We create spaces that spark childlike wonder, fostering connections with our inner selves and the pure unbridled delight of lighthearted moments. Our vision celebrates the restoration of authentic and innate human joy, igniting a thrill of exploration beyond virtual boundaries. (Imagine a library that encourages you to climb its bookshelves to perch atop its roof.)
